Enchanting gardens are good parent-child activity

Are you looking for a gardening activity that is more intriguing than re-potting houseplants? Need something to cure the winter blahs or a kid-friendly activity for the next snow day? A fairy garden may just be your answer.

Fairy Girls Club Enchanted Walkabout Deemed a Success

Fairy Line Naturals creator Dr. LindaJoy Rose and members of her Fairy Girls Club of Tampa Bay teamed up with guide John Springer on an Enchanted Walkabout.

Dear Fairies, please write back! Interview with Carole Hallet Mobbs: To keep some magic alive, I crafted a long letter in reply.

When DearFairies.com owner Carole Hallet Mobbs discovered a heartfelt letter to the fairies from her daughter, buried amongst the child's handmade cushion and dress gifts for them, she didn't know what to do. With her daughter set for an operation, Mobbs worried that devoid a response from the fairies, a bit of childhood magic would disappear forever. After all, fairies today spend most of their time tending to the environment; as much as they would love to, they seldom get the chance to sit down and write letters back to eager children.

Controversy over traditional fairy tales

Many parents are grappling with the issue of whether or not traditional fairy tales, even in their modern watered-down forms, are appropriate for today's children.

Around a quarter have already deemed the fairy tales either too scary for bedtime reading, or too politically incorrect for reading at all, according to a poll of 3,000 British parents by TheBabyWebsite.com. After all, a fox devours the gingerbread man, Cinderella's family forces her to work like a slave, and a wolf consumes Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother.
