"Tooth Fairy" movie starring Dwayne Johnson hits theaters January 22

Yet another point for fairies in the market, Fox Studios will release new big-budget movie The Tooth Fairy, which looks like a cross between The Game Plan and Tinkerbell, to American theaters on January 22, 2010.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays minor league hockey star Derek Thompson, whose knack for knocking out opponents' teeth earns him the nickname "The Tooth Fairy". However, when cocky Derek tells a young aspiring hockey player to "lower his expectations" and then nearly spoils his young daughter's belief in tooth fairies, real tooth fairies sentence him to work as one of them in order to make amends.

Donning wings, baby blue tights, amnesiac fairy dust, invisible spray, shrinking paste, and cat repellent, Derek digs his way through strangers' homes to trade freshly lost teeth for money. Fairy lovers will enjoy humorous insight into a tooth fairy's life, as Derek struggles to adapt to the ways of the tooth fairy: he fails flying training, abuses invisible spray for an advantage in the hockey court, barely escapes curious cars, and fails to use shrinking paste when entering homes (resulting in an odd look or two from parents). Needless to say, some of the other tooth fairies doubt Derek's sincerity.

Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews, and Billy Crystal will also star in the movie.
